Savarkar Ganeshotsav Mandal celebrates the Ganpati festival with a unique tradition every year. The Ganpati festival was being celebrated from 1987. From 1987, the Ganpati festival is celebrated in an enclosed mandap. Every year, the festival is celebrated for 7 days in the same tradition with passion. Mandal provide artistes from various backgrounds, to explore their talents through the cultural programs, organized to celebrate the festival. On the 7th day, Savarkar Ganpati's immersion procession is done.
Ganesh Chaturthi starts with the installation of these Ganesh statues in colorfully decorated and specially erected temporary structures mandapas in every locality. The mandapas are erected by the committee, collecting monetary contributions. The mandapas are decorated specially for the festival, either by using decorative items like flower garlands, lights, etc. or are theme based decorations, which depict religious themes or current events. The priest, usually clad in red or white dhoti and uttariyam (Shawl), then with the chanting of mantras invokes the presence of Ganesha using the statue as a channel, or body for his energy. This ritual is the Pranapratishhtha.
Aarti is perfomed two times a day. Morning at 8.00 AM and Evening at 8.00 PM. Common Atharvshirsh reading, Bhajan & Kirtan done in festival days.
